Hello. I am Kana Nagahama, the director of Kana Dental Clinic.

What kind of things do you associate with a visit to the dentist?
Perhaps you imagine some scary tools or discomforting noises.
Many people dislike the dentist, I think, because of these kinds of feelings.

I understand these feelings well.
However, the health of your mouth and teeth is closely related to the health of your heart and body. Ignoring them can harm your entire lifestyle.

With cavities, you may be unable to eat.
With swollen gums, you may feel pain or worry about bad breath.
If the alignment of your teeth concerns you, you may try to hide your smile.

Eating, talking, and laughing—the condition of your mouth and teeth is involved in such important facets of our everyday lives.
As a dentist, I want to help make patients’ lives just a little bit better and brighter.
As a woman, I also want to be a partner for my female patients and walk alongside them as they experience the physical, emotional, and lifestyle-related fluctuations of their lives.

In a sense, doing things like filling in cavities or treating dental disease is only the most given and obvious part of dentistry.
Of course, I always approach such basic treatments with all that my knowledge and skills can offer.
However, I believe that improving patients’ natural self-healing abilities is even more important.
I am always thinking about what I can do to make this a reality and try to achieve it in my daily treatments.

Caring for teeth is not just about maintaining functionality. Like our skin, we also care about how our teeth look.
Especially for women, improving personal complexes such as tooth alignment and color can transform our appearances to be brighter and happier.
Because I want to see the smiles of these patients, I also focus on providing orthodontics and aesthetic dentistry.

Our clinic may also offer treatments that do not seem at first related to dentistry. We may perform massage and acupuncture to relax the muscles or even simply just listen to a patient’s concerns.
However, I believe these things help bring out a patient’s natural self-healing abilities.

To best meet patient feeds, in addition to basic treatments covered by health insurance, we also offer treatments not covered by insurance.

We also support maternity and pediatric dentistry so that pregnant mothers and children can be treated with peace of mind.

Each patient has different goals.

I want to work with each patient to find the approach that works best for them.

After graduating from university, I took over the dental clinic that was run by my grandfather and father. I then continued my studies while treating patients.
While doing so, I had a growing desire to do treatments unique to my position as a female dentist. This led to my opening of the Kana Dental Clinic in the Shinsaibashi area of Chuo-ku, Osaka.

While I was a high school student, one of my mentors told me that the first character in the Japanese word for “patient” (患), which is made up of the characters for “skewer” (串) and “heart” (心), represents a skewer stuck in a patient’s heart.
I am always thinking about how I can remove my patients’ skewers.

As a patient, please do not hesitate to share your honest feelings. If you are feeling unwell or sensitive to pain, I want to know about it.
To alleviate the fear of dental treatment as much as possible, we have also taken great care with aspects of our clinic’s atmosphere such as lighting, interior decor, and BGM.
